So, I was going for a cycle in the evening as I usually do, and I only stumbled on my local Critical Mass ride. I had to take part which I did.

Cleaned my drivetrain last night.

I had forgotten how, if you can’t hear your gears grinding and your crank cranking, etc., the whole act seems effortless. The bike fades away into some kind of whispery spirit and it’s just you and the resistance of the landscape.
All that from a bit of degreaser.
